Guest ER Posted February 8, 2012 at 07:10 AM Report Share Posted February 8, 2012 at 07:10 AM According to RONR, what must be done in order to schedule a meeting? Does the President/Chair have the right to schedule a meeting? Does the schedule have to be voted on? If yes, by who? Please advise ASAP.Thanks! Trina Posted February 8, 2012 at 11:01 AM Report Share Posted February 8, 2012 at 11:01 AM See RONR (11th ed.) p. 89 ll. 9-12.Basically, if the bylaws don't define the days for regular meetings, the dates can be scheduled by resolution (i.e. an adopted motion), and notice must be sent to all members of the chosen dates. In an organization where the general membership meets rarely, the duty of setting the meeting schedule may be assigned to a board (this assignment would be in the bylaws). Otherwise, the body that is meeting would be responsible for adopting the motion setting its meeting dates. The President acting alone does not have this authority, according to the rules in RONR.
