lorbry Posted February 10, 2012 at 04:28 PM Report Share Posted February 10, 2012 at 04:28 PM I work for a local foundation. One of our trustees is employed by a hospital as a contract physician. That same hospital applies to us for grant funding. In re: to voting on a grant application: Does a conflict of interest exist if the trustee's area of employment (radiology) is not related to the area of the hospital which is seeking funds from the foundation (behavioral health)? Chris Harrison Posted February 10, 2012 at 05:07 PM Report Share Posted February 10, 2012 at 05:07 PM A member should abstain when he has a direct personal or pecuniary interest not in common with the other members but he cannot be compelled to do so (RONR p. 407). However, check the bylaws to see what they have to say on the subject.
