Executive officer by definition also being a Committee chair

Our general membership will be voting on new officers shortly. Description of officers' duties have been mailed to the general membership so that informed voting can (hopefully) take place. The person who took these descriptions included "The VP shall be the Chair of the Publicity Committee". This seems to me to be unadvisable esp. if term limits for the VP is different from the Chair... It also seems to give the VP too much business to attend to.

Ideas?

Did the person writing the description just make it up? Is it a rule from your bylaws? Customary in the organization?

Also, what is your question about RONR?
