Guest Dianne Posted February 26, 2012 at 07:44 PM Report Share Posted February 26, 2012 at 07:44 PM The President of an organization has announced that he will run again for President. The Past President is a Board position. Does the current President now become also the Past President or does the Past President from 2011-2012 remain in that position another year 2012-2013? See page 588 (RONR 11th Ed.) for some insights into bylaw interpretation.I think most here would say that the (immediate) past president is the person who held that position (and no longer does) prior to the person who does hold that position currently. But also keep in mind that every person who has been the president is a past president. So, do your bylaws reference the immediate past president, or just past president?
