sryall Posted February 28, 2012 at 07:11 PM Report Share Posted February 28, 2012 at 07:11 PM We have a committee with co-chairs - this allows both the employer and the union reps to have equal representation on the committee. The union co-chair resigned and this chair is elected by the committee members. Does her replacement automatically become the new co-chair or should there not be an election again?TIAS Ryall
Robert B Fish Posted February 28, 2012 at 07:16 PM Report Share Posted February 28, 2012 at 07:16 PM Since the committee has the authority to elect the officers and since you apparently have the authority to elect co-chairs, when one of the co-chairs resigns, the committee must hold a special election for the unexpired term. The old co-chair's replacement on the committee does NOT automatically fill that role unless you have some superior rule that says othersies.-Bob
