Guest Maggie Posted March 7, 2012 at 08:01 PM Report Share Posted March 7, 2012 at 08:01 PM Our Board recently met in a general Board meeting. During the meeting a debate was completed and a vote called for. There were 4 in favor, 2 opposed, 1 absent. After the vote one of the opposed upon additional discussion changed their vote to Yes. The meeting was adjourned. When the minutes came out two days later, the person that changed their vote now wants to change it again to opposed. This person and the other that opposed as well as the absentee also now want to have another vote on the same issue. In addition they are insisting that instead of the Board voting the second time they now want the issue to be put before the entire membership for a vote instead of a Board vote. I would appreciate some feedback. Thank you.
Chris Harrison Posted March 7, 2012 at 08:12 PM Report Share Posted March 7, 2012 at 08:12 PM After the vote one of the opposed upon additional discussion changed their vote to Yes. Too late to do that (RONR pp. 408-409).When the minutes came out two days later, the person that changed their vote now wants to change it again to opposed. Way too late (same pages). This person and the other that opposed as well as the absentee also now want to have another vote on the same issue. Probably too late to Reconsider the motion (RONR . 316) but it might be subject to being Rescinded or Amended (RONR pp. 305-310).In addition they are insisting that instead of the Board voting the second time they now want the issue to be put before the entire membership for a vote instead of a Board vote.See Official Interpretation 2006-13.
