The good news - after sitting down with the superintendent and the board secretary - we developed a script that included all of proper steps to take in making the motions, the secondary amendment, the votes, etc. While there was some push-back from one board member who thought it "was clear as mud," it worked. The bad news was the secondary amendment failed on a 3-4 vote, which we didn't expect, and that launched everything back to the previous motion.
