Ad Hoc Committee

If the superior group (the group it reports to) wants the Committee to reconsider its recommendation, the group would have to create a new Special Committee and appoint the members of the 'old' Committee to the new one (or have new members, or a combination of old and new members.) But the Special Committee that made the recommendation no longer exists.

Is an ad hoc committee automatically dismissed if it brings its recommendation to a body and that recommendation is defeated?

It depends upon the wording of the motion that set up the committee. If it was just a simple statement to come back with a resolution on topic A, then it is finished. If the instructions were to keep coming back with suggestions until the main body is satisfied, then maybe no -- was the main body satisfied. Usually the reporting ends the life of the committee. But what was the actual wording?
