Guest Richard Posted March 14, 2012 at 12:00 AM Report Share Posted March 14, 2012 at 12:00 AM Just for clarification:I serve on a 7 member Town Council with a non-voting Mayor.Where there is a special called meeting of the Council, and all 7 members (+ Mayor) sign the Call Sheet which states the 2-item agenda, can motions be made that DO NOT pertain to the aganda items? In need of clarification... we follow RONR current edition. Thanks for any help!Richard in VA+++++++++++
Robert B Fish Posted March 14, 2012 at 01:24 AM Report Share Posted March 14, 2012 at 01:24 AM Usually applicable statutes control such meetings of public bodies. Those rules superscede RONR.If all members are present, you do not have rights of absent members to protect. In that case I believe that, by a 2/3 vote, you can decide to consider those items assuming again that applicable statutes do not conflict.-Bob
