jstackpo Posted May 11, 2012 at 08:10 PM Report Share Posted May 11, 2012 at 08:10 PM Seems a tad improper, but if the majority agrees to open the polls "early", then I suppose it is OK.But what are you going to do if the contract is amended, during discussion? You'll have to toss out all those "early" votes since they were voting on something different. So it is not a good idea.
Guest Edgar Posted May 11, 2012 at 08:16 PM Report Share Posted May 11, 2012 at 08:16 PM But what are you going to do if the contract is amended, during discussion? It's quite possible (even probable) that, at this point, the contract is at the take-it-or-leave-it stage. jstackpo Posted May 11, 2012 at 08:23 PM Report Share Posted May 11, 2012 at 08:23 PM Yeah, that makes things simpler. But our Guest M. D'A. would have to clarify that.
Gary Novosielski Posted May 19, 2012 at 01:55 AM Report Share Posted May 19, 2012 at 01:55 AM It's quite possible (even probable) that, at this point, the contract is at the take-it-or-leave-it stage. That's extremely likely. The only way that the tentative agreement (which is being submitted for ratification by the rank-and-file) could be amended would be to return to the bargaining table. And that's what would happen if the ratification vote fails.
