J H Smith Posted May 31, 2012 at 01:26 AM Report Share Posted May 31, 2012 at 01:26 AM Should the revision be presented by the Chairman of the bylaw committee or the President? Is it ever appropriate for the President to assign a member of the Board of Directors the task?
George Mervosh Posted May 31, 2012 at 02:20 PM Report Share Posted May 31, 2012 at 02:20 PM The committee chairman can move for the adoption of the revision if it is going to be considered when the bylaw committee reports, but the President would preside over its seriatim consideration, put it to a final vote, and declare the result. Does the president wish to ask someone else to guide the assembly through the consideration process, for some reason?
Josh Martin Posted June 1, 2012 at 01:19 AM Report Share Posted June 1, 2012 at 01:19 AM Should the revision be presented by the Chairman of the bylaw committee or the President? Is it ever appropriate for the President to assign a member of the Board of Directors the task?If the revision is being recommended by the Byaws Committee, the chairman or another member of the committee should give the report and move the adoption of the revision. If it isn't from the Bylaws Committee, any member could make the motion. In either case, the President should not make the motion, as that would interfere with his ability to preside impartially.
