Appointed vs Elected President

1. A Board, which has experienced much upheaval and turmoil in the last 2 years, had an appointed President since the elected President resigned, and there was no VP to become President. The board appointed this person to the President role, as per their constitution's wording regarding filling casual vacancies. Does that appointed position last the remainder of the term of the former elected President (the AGM after the next AGM), or until the next AGM when it could be filled by a vote of the membership? It is not specified in the constitution.

2. When the appointed President's term expires, either by AGM or by end of term as per (1), does the appointed President assume the role of Past President? Or is that only for an elected President?

1. If your bylaws are silent, the new president would serve until the end of the term.

2. The (immediate) past president is whoever was president just before the current president (but it's not an office that's defined in RONR).
