Guest David Posted June 5, 2012 at 06:57 AM Report Share Posted June 5, 2012 at 06:57 AM What is the proper procedure during a meeting when the president is accused of misconduct? Is the motion made first to the chair and then to the vice president, or made first to the vice president?Second, can a motion be made to suspend the president of his duties until an investigation is done, or does the floor alone have the ability to censure the president? Regarding the the former, much will depend upon whether your bylaws provide that the officers are elected for a "fixed" term, or not.My suggestion is that you read Chapter XX of RONR and your bylaws, carefully and determine how you should proceed. Also, without reading your organizations bylaws, someone could move to Suspend the Rules and remove the President from presiding at the meeting. However, the effect of this motion only lasts for the duration of that meeting, and it would need to be "Renewed" at each subsequent meeting, until the situation is resolved.
