jpecoraro79
If a member of an Association is placed on the ballot by Nomination from Petition, does the nominating committee have the right to sperate and label their candidates versus Nomination by Petition candidates on the official ballot? Thank you.
George Mervosh
I can't find a rule which prohibits such labels.
Bruce Lages
But I think the authority to do that would rest with the assembly and not the nominating committee on its own.
J. J.
But I think the authority to do that would rest with the assembly and not the nominating committee on its own.Or the committee/person delegated to construct the ballot.
Rev Ed
I would say no. The nominations are listed in any order, but not by who nominated the person unless the assembly orders it that way (which I would not recommend.)

Thank you.The "separate their candidates" portion of this in particular worries me. It seems to be a very bad idea, rather than just the bad idea that labeling the candidates would be.Certainly, though, the nominating committee doesn't have the right to designate that their selections be marked in any particular fashion on a pre-printed ballot, unless your bylaws gave them that right.I'm also a big fan of blank ballots, personally, especially when you have the possibility of write-in votes. Removes a ton of issues with ballot design (which is much more involved than sometimes people realize). Try googling "ballot design", for some fun.
