mgreilly Posted September 16, 2012 at 10:12 PM Report Share Posted September 16, 2012 at 10:12 PM The organization I belong to had voted to provide printed copies of the minutes to the membership for review before each meeting started. The secretary stopped doing it after some time stating that the issue was not voted on during the current year. Is a vote required each year to continue the practice or should it continue until a vote occurs to discontinue the practice?

Ask the officers who are saying otherwise to show you a rule that supports their position.

J. J. Posted September 17, 2012 at 06:09 AM Report Share Posted September 17, 2012 at 06:09 AM The motion would remain in effect until rescinded. It is possible for the effect of a motion to be limited, e.g. "I move that we have hot tea served at all meeting between October 2012 and March 2013 inclusive."Unless there was some sort of a time limit in the motion, it does continue in effect.
