Guest Edgar Posted September 18, 2012 at 12:56 PM Report Share Posted September 18, 2012 at 12:56 PM What percentage of voting members present does it take to reconsider a vote from a previous meeting?Firstly, the term "reconsider" has a very specific parliamentary meaning and is not applicable in this situation. That said, a defeated motion can be made again ("renewed") by any member at any subsequent meeting (as if it had never been made). An adopted motion can often be rescinded (or otherwise amended). A two-thirds vote will do it.And note that the basis for determining the vote is not the number of voting members present but the number of members present and voting. Unless the session in question has multiple meetings, in which case the motion to Reconsider could be applicable. But I, too, would bet that it's not. Tim Wynn Posted September 18, 2012 at 03:50 PM Report Share Posted September 18, 2012 at 03:50 PM For the benefit of the OP and others who may peruse this thread, George is referring to the fact that a motion to Rescind or Amend Something Previously Adopted can be adopted by a majority vote if previous notice has been given or by a vote of a majority of the ENTIRE membership.
