have last election nullified

there was just an election of board member but after talking to a lot of people we feel maybe we where cheated by the way it was handled.

example 3 seats open; only 3 people running not told others said they be interested. yes if u read ballot paper over a few times, u see u could wrote in a canidate. meating where held prior to counting of votes with the 3 listed as they had already won.

people felt with only 3 open spots and only 3 names showing it didnt matter if u voted! a few of us think if it was made known who the others interested in the spots where it would have made a big difference in the voting and the election.

can we nullified this past election and re run it ? and can we "untill" new election reinstate the board as was before past election.

This sounds a bit confusing her, so let ask some questions:

1) Do the By-laws require a ballot vote? If so, you must have a ballot vote, and unless the By-laws state that write-in votes are not allowed (which the By-laws should not state) then write-in votes are allowed.

2) Were nominations called for at the meeting? If not, then people may not have known who was nominated and who was not nominated.

3) Did anyone mention that there were others interested in running? This goes back to question #2, if no one else is nominated, or gets up and volunteers to run, then people have no idea that these other people were interested.

At the end of the day, if there was a vote, and some people voted then the results of the election would stand unless someone can show specifically that there was no opportunity for others to be nominated or sow an interest in being elected.

they went door to door asking people if they are interested and from what i can gather stopped when they found 3 to fill the board cant prove it but i know what people r saying out of approx 900 voteshares only about 1/3 where used

most i spoken to have said 3 seat 3 running no need to vote

Voters are responsible for understanding how to vote. If they decided to give up instead of writing in a candidate, that was their choice.

but when the ballot came out it just stated that these 3 where running for the 3 empty seats. what r roberts rules on nullifying elctions

How was the election actually conducted?

It sounds like you had a nominating committee, who searched for enough people to fill the seats available, and didn't go any further.

During the election itself, was there a call for nominations from the floor? It sounds like the ballots had a space for write-in votes, but the design may have been lacking to make that apparent?

Was the election held in a meeting, or was it a case where ballots were sent out to members, to send them back in?

Also, the Nominating Committee normally only recommends one candidate per position - so it sounds like they did their job.

Again, were nominations asked for at the meeting? As long as there was a ballot vote, people could still write-in another name, but there still be an opportunity for further nominations.

If the Nominating Committee asked aprox. 300 members, and only received 3 interested people it sounds like the organization might now have that many interested volunteers to begin with.
