Guest Bert Posted October 23, 2012 at 04:29 AM Report Share Posted October 23, 2012 at 04:29 AM Hello,I am a gmal in a non-profit club with meetings that are governed by RONR. The executive meets monthly and we have a annual meeting (general membership) in December. At the previously annual meeting we adopted a policy that volunteers must work X number of hours before they receive some perks. The executive now wishes to amend that policy to reduce the number of hours. There are one of three criterion that must be met to amend a previously adopted policy according to RONR. The simplest being a 2/3 majority vote on the motion to amend.I have the following question.1) Must the motion to amend the policy occur at the annual general membership meeting (where the original motion was made) or can it be amended at a regular executive meeting? If it is the latter are there any other conditions required for the amendment?Bert
Gary Novosielski Posted October 23, 2012 at 04:48 AM Report Share Posted October 23, 2012 at 04:48 AM A decision of the membership cannot be countermanded by the executive board. The amendment would have to be considered at your general membership meeting.
