Guest Jade Posted October 26, 2012 at 03:49 PM Report Share Posted October 26, 2012 at 03:49 PM I'm the board administrator for a state agency and we have a number of sub-committees and committee meetings (Investment Committee, Governance Committee etc.) and I also do minutes for those committees. Is it necessary to formally approve those minutes and if so does it just need to be done by the committee rather than the board. Thank you. jstackpo Posted October 26, 2012 at 04:16 PM Report Share Posted October 26, 2012 at 04:16 PM Although RONR doesn't require minutes in committees (and sub-committees) at all (see p. 500) since the "Reports" of the various committees to their superior bodies serve that purpose, there is no harm in taking and approving them. And, of course, the official reports that are to go up the line do have to be approved. In both cases, it is the committee that approves its own documents, whether they be (unnecessary) minutes or the report(s).What the Board does with the reports once the get them is up to the Board, of course.
