Nominations from floor

We have an upcoming election and we follow Roberts rules of order for floor nominating. We have a nominating committee who has filled the ballot with their recommendations. We have two seats that are currently filled by individuals who complain about length of meetings and their responsibilities and yet now they want to be added to the ballot. If we refuse the addition of them to the ballot and they receive a floor nomination, I am presuming there is nothing for us to do even though they are in the same capacity today and not really fulfilling their responsibilities. Any suggestions?

Is 'we' here the nominating committee? The job of the nominating committee is to recommend (nominate) the best candidate it can find for each office. The committee is under no obligation to nominate an incompetent incumbent simply because the incumbent 'wants to be added to the ballot.'

Beyond that, however, the incumbents can certainly be nominated from the floor -- the nominating committee can't and shouldn't try to prevent that.

Also, remember that nominations are debatable. Thus, the inadequate performance of these particular individuals can be pointed out prior to voting.

In other words, there are steps to take prior to the 'don't vote for them' that other posters have already suggested. Nominating committee, don't nominate bad candidates. Members, debate nominations prior to voting. Also, outside of a meeting, members are, of course, free to talk to one another and to campaign for (or against) particular candidates for office.
