Guest Guest John Posted October 30, 2012 at 10:19 PM Report Share Posted October 30, 2012 at 10:19 PM An ex-officio member of an Executive Committee is the "Immediate Past President" of the organization. Each year the board elects a President for a one year term. In year one, the previous President is on the Executive Committee as the "Immediate Past President." In year two, the incumbent President is re-elected for another one year term. Is the incumbent President who was re-elected also the Immediate Past President, or does the former President retain that status and remain on the Executive Committee for a second year. The bylaws do not state a term for Immediate Past President--would you normally presume the term of Immediate Past President would be the same (1 year) as the normal term for a President? Gary Novosielski Posted October 30, 2012 at 10:23 PM Report Share Posted October 30, 2012 at 10:23 PM The terms of office are listed in your bylaws. If your bylaws are hard to figure out, your assembly will have to figure out what they mean.RONR does not recommend giving past presidents any official role, so any rules would have to be your own.
