Guest Couleen Posted November 1, 2012 at 07:13 PM Report Share Posted November 1, 2012 at 07:13 PM What is the correct way of recording votes taken for a motion? For example, motion was not passed unanimously, there were some abstentions to the vote, ie. 20 in favour, 2 abstained. Do you simply state it as such? JohnR Posted November 1, 2012 at 07:21 PM Report Share Posted November 1, 2012 at 07:21 PM "The motion was adopted" or "the motion was lost." Votes are not recorded unless a count is ordered or the vote is by ballot. Abstentions are not votes and are not recorded except in a roll call.
