Guest Paul Warlick Posted November 2, 2012 at 02:08 PM Report Share Posted November 2, 2012 at 02:08 PM If the quorum is calculated as 10.3 members present, then do you round up to 11 or down to 10? What if the number is 10.5, round up to 11?
Trina Posted November 2, 2012 at 02:13 PM Report Share Posted November 2, 2012 at 02:13 PM Quorum defines the minimum number of members who must be present. Assuming that members are whole human beings, in order to have at least 10.3 people present, 11 people must be in the room. In other words, always round up. Even if quorum calculated out to 10.001 members, you'd need 11 members in order to have at least 10.001.
Guest Edgar Posted November 2, 2012 at 02:25 PM Report Share Posted November 2, 2012 at 02:25 PM Or don't round at all. Why, if your rules say that at least 10.3 members must be present (and I doubt that that's what your rules actually say), would you think that 10 members would be enough? What if the number is 10.5, round up to 11?You don't round at all. If you need at least 10.3 members, then you need at least 10.3. Any number, 10.3 or more, will do.Of course your members might object to being cut into pieces, so you'd better just stick with whole numbers like, say, 11.
