Guest Myra Posted December 12, 2012 at 04:38 PM Report Share Posted December 12, 2012 at 04:38 PM Voted to purchase equipment for the school. Discussion during the motion stated it would b paid for with PTO funds, box top $, & a possible grant. Motion was made for the PTO to pay. Motion passed. Now there is confusion on where the $ comes from. All from PTO or some from others listed above. . What's the answer
David A Foulkes Posted December 12, 2012 at 04:45 PM Report Share Posted December 12, 2012 at 04:45 PM What's the answer [?]You tell us! It was your organization's decision to purchase the equipment, which should have included some fairly detailed agreement on where you'd get hands on that money. If it was agreed (through an adopted motion) that the PTO would pay for it, then the PTO will need to do whatever it can to collect it. Bake sales, car washes, whatever it takes. RONR will not answer this for you.
Tim Wynn Posted December 12, 2012 at 08:50 PM Report Share Posted December 12, 2012 at 08:50 PM Voted to purchase equipment for the school. Now there is confusion on where the $ comes from. All from PTO or some from others listed above. . What's the answerThe exact language that the chair used in putting the question to a vote is what was adopted. What is said during debate has no effect on the motion that was adopted. It appears that the motion should have been amended to reflect the will of the assembly before it was put to a vote, such as adding, "to be paid for in the following manner: half from PTO funds, a quarter from box-top money, and a quarter from Mr. Foulkes." If it was a body outside of the PTO, they would need to be authorized to make this sort of decision on the PTO's behalf.
