Constitutional Review

Our club's constitution states that we must have a constitutional review every January. There is a meeting scheduled to start the review process, but a few of the

ladies on the review committee have stated that they don't really want to go through with the lengthy review. They have said that they will make a motion in the

review meeting to "postpone" the review for a later date. There are only about 7 ladies on this review committee. Shouldn't such a decision be brought to the board

of governor's for a vote, which consists of 21 ladies? If the review committee wants to review the constitution at a later date (TBD), doesn't there need to be an amendment to the constitution?

Who says it has to be lengthy? They can meet, take a look at the constitution, and agree that it's fine just the way it is.

I think you'll need to look at your Bylaws carefully. See RONR, 11th ed., pgs. 588-591 for some Principles of Interpretation.

I'd also note that if the body that appoints the review committee feels strongly about this review, they could replace the committee's members.
