We are a charitable organization (503c). one of our board member rents a room in our building. he hasn't paid his rent for the past 2 months. can we remove him from the board on that basis ? we have nothing written in the by-laws or in the handbook in that regard

Why do you think you could?

Or, since you are a charitable organization, why do you think you should?

we should because his not paying the rent is threatening our financial health and survival. our only other source of income is donations. we do have a code of ethics in our hand-book and by not paying, he his clearly showing that he doesn't have the best interests of the organization at heart
