Suzan Posted February 21, 2013 at 09:47 PM Report Share Posted February 21, 2013 at 09:47 PM How is a recused member listed in the minutes? The member agreed to recuse herself due to a conflict of interest. Should she be listed as Absent (recused) or Absent (excused) or is there another official way? Guest Edgar Posted February 21, 2013 at 09:53 PM Report Share Posted February 21, 2013 at 09:53 PM Recusal is not a concept found in RONR.If you record members' attendance in the minutes (and there is no requirement in RONR that you do so), record him as "absent" if he was absent (or, you guessed it, "present" if he was present). No excuses.
Guest Edgar Posted February 21, 2013 at 09:54 PM Report Share Posted February 21, 2013 at 09:54 PM And substitute "she" for "he" and "her" for "him" as needed.
Guest Nathan Posted February 22, 2013 at 02:24 AM Report Share Posted February 22, 2013 at 02:24 AM Guest Suzan,I'm curious why you think (incorrectly) that a member should recuse himself? Not only is this unsupport in RONR, but it sounds like you more than have a misunderstanding of recusal, but it sounds very odd. Why do you and this member think "recusal" is necessary?Do some members disagree with a position the "recused" member has taken?
Laura Byrd Posted July 17, 2017 at 08:09 PM Report Share Posted July 17, 2017 at 08:09 PM When a person recuses themselves - is it necessary to give a reason for recusal and for that reason to be documented in the minutes?

No. (It's best to start a new thread instead of adding on to an old one, especially a really old one.
