Conducting Nominations from the floor

Since in this case, the presidents name will be on the ballot, Should the president actually call for the nominations or should they allow the nominating committee chair to conduct this segment of the meeting?

The chair should chair the meeting. The only time he would be expected to relinquish the chair would be if he intended to participate in debate (i.e., to campaign for the office).

Agreed... and if so, the chair should be passed to the Vice President, not to the chair of the nominating committee.
