dreyred Posted February 27, 2013 at 05:55 PM Report Share Posted February 27, 2013 at 05:55 PM Can a board call for executive session at anytime during meetings or must executive session be on the agenda? I went to a board meeting and the members ran the meeting not according to the agenda. During reporting by the directors they asked questions to the point of humiliation then they would call for executive session. They continued this behavior throughout the meeting and took 15 hours. They have bigger procedural issues to worry about than executive session rules if their meetings are lasting 15 hours though.

They are taking more than a day and their employees don't make it home until after midnight. Or was this a sarcastic remark?
Guest Edgar Posted February 28, 2013 at 02:09 AM Report Share Posted February 28, 2013 at 02:09 AM Or was this a sarcastic remark? There are 24 hours in a day therefore a 15-hour meeting doesn't take all day.Sarcastic? I suppose so.

Or was this a sarcastic remark?I don't think anyone is disputing that 15 hours is an absurdly long meeting. Personally, I was hoping that was a typo. The board should probably look into ways to cut down on meeting times, possibly seeking out a professional parliamentarian for assistance in this regard. I imagine if the trend continues it is likely to have a detrimental effect on recruitment and retention of board members and employees.
