wwdslovene Posted March 26, 2013 at 04:40 PM Report Share Posted March 26, 2013 at 04:40 PM I am aware that it is no longer suggested that the name of the person who seconds a motion needs to be noted in the Miinutes. What is the current thinking on naming the person who makes the motion?

What is the current thinking on naming the person who makes the motion?"The name of the maker of a main motion should be entered in the minutes, but the name of the seconder should not be entered unless ordered by the assembly." Gary Novosielski Posted March 27, 2013 at 01:17 AM Report Share Posted March 27, 2013 at 01:17 AM I am aware that it is no longer suggested that the name of the person who seconds a motion needs to be noted in the Miinutes. What is the current thinking on naming the person who makes the motion? The rule is that the person making the motion is recorded. It was never the case that the name of someone seconding a motion should be named. In fact, since a seconder does not seek recognition, but merely calls out "Second", it is probable that nobody will know (nor need to know) the identity of the seconder.
