Guest Jenn C Posted September 14, 2013 at 11:11 PM Report Share Posted September 14, 2013 at 11:11 PM We had a board member resign after a she took $600 from our fundraiser without the boards consent 3 months ago. Now she wants to run for President of our Board of Directors. Can she resign and run in the same year? Is there anything we can do to stop her from running? No, but you do not have to vote for her.
Guest Edgar Posted September 15, 2013 at 01:12 AM Report Share Posted September 15, 2013 at 01:12 AM Now she wants to run for President of our Board of Directors. Are you sure your board has a president? Typically (but not always), an organization will have a president and its board will have a chairman (or a chairwoman or, simply, a chair). Hence the familiar term, Chairman of the Board. In any case, as Donna Summer suggests, the voters will decide whether or not to elect a thief. Well, if they're different people, that would be the usual arrangement. It's also common, however, for the President of the organization to be the ex officio chairman of the board. g40 Posted September 15, 2013 at 06:25 PM Report Share Posted September 15, 2013 at 06:25 PM if it not too late, why not file theft charges. Get someone, who is not a thief, to run.
