Guest Diana P. Posted September 17, 2013 at 05:37 PM Report Share Posted September 17, 2013 at 05:37 PM Our Vice Chairperson brought up a past meeting topic and was rudely interrupted by another member of the board. The Vice Chair tried to again repeat and suggest that it could have been handled differently, and was interrupted again by the same person. The Vice Chair then got angry and insisted she be allowed to finish. Two days later our Chairperson advised her that she was being relieved of her duties as Vice Chair because she got angry. If you are going to remove a Vice Chair, aren't you supposed to vote and have a quorum?
Josh Martin Posted September 17, 2013 at 05:46 PM Report Share Posted September 17, 2013 at 05:46 PM If you are going to remove a Vice Chair, aren't you supposed to vote and have a quorum? Yes, at a minimum. See FAQ #20. The chairperson doesn't have the authority to remove the Vice Chair on his own unless the bylaws so provide. Rather than getting angry, however, the vice chair, when the chair allowed the other member to interrupt, should have raised a point of order that the meeting was not in order, and forced the chair to handle the situation. From the description given it sounds like the interrupting member is the one who should be subject to discipline.
