Can the President call for a meeting to go into Executive Session?

I am not entirely familiar with this process and the only time I have been in a BOD when we went into Executive Session it was so moved by another member of the BOD. Is it appropriate for a President to request a meeting move into Executive Session if one knows they are going to bring sensitive information to the table, or must it be so moved by another member of the BOD?

I think it would be appropriate for the President to assume the motion.
