Josh Martin Posted October 17, 2013 at 07:10 PM Report Share Posted October 17, 2013 at 07:10 PM does the president not have the ability to move or postpone to carry-on further discussion/research of the subject matter? No, the President does not have that ability. The assembly can choose to postpone the motion, by majority vote, but it's a bit late for that if the vote has already been taken. Bruce Lages Posted October 17, 2013 at 09:40 PM Report Share Posted October 17, 2013 at 09:40 PM Although RONR does not give the president the right to unilaterally postpone an issue, if you have some change to the motion in mind - in other words something more specific than just more discussion - you can move to amend something previously adopted to revisit the issue. See RONR, 11th ed., pp. 305-310 for the details of this motion.
