If whole slate not approved, can candidates be voted on individually

When the Nomination Committee presents a slate of officers to the general membership for approval -

if there is an objection to one (or more) of the candidates slated, does the Pres. have the authority to have the membership vote on the rest of the slate w/o the candidate(s) in question. Or, does the Nom. Comm. have to table it, and come back at the next meeting with another full slate? In other words, is it full slate or nothing, or can we vote for a portion of the slate and come back with a nomination for the other positions at a later date?

Regardless of whether there is an objection, the assembly should conduct elections on each office individually. Don't send it back to the Nominating Committee - their job is over. Members may nominate other candidates of their choice from the floor and may vote for any eligible candidate.

Under no circumstances should the assembly vote on a slate or part of a slate, but if there is no competition for a particular office, the chair may declare the candidate(s) for that office elected by acclamation, so long as the bylaws do not require a ballot vote.

Wipe the word "slate" from your vocabulary …

Will those of you who pooh-pooh warnings like Guest Edgar's here, please finally stop?

No, because I'm still wondering whether the vocabulary from which the word "slate" is supposed to be wiped is written on a slate and, if so, what will happen to that slate once the wiping is complete.
