Guest Bill Perkins Posted October 27, 2013 at 12:48 AM Report Share Posted October 27, 2013 at 12:48 AM If a majority of Board members take time after the close of a meeting to discuss a topic and then later draft a suggestion for the next meeting to discuss was that gathering a violation of the Rules of Order? Should that have been a formal called to order meeting or was it just members discussing a topic for formal discussion and possible voting action at a later date? J. J. Posted October 27, 2013 at 12:57 AM Report Share Posted October 27, 2013 at 12:57 AM No. It is not uncommon for members to draft motions outside of a meeting. These must be adopted in a meeting.
