SKT Posted December 7, 2013 at 08:39 PM Report Share Posted December 7, 2013 at 08:39 PM Hi,Our co-op board wants to start having Agenda Meetings. The purpose of the meeting would be to informally discuss agenda items before bringing them to the regular board meeting where voting takes place with co-op members attending. Is there something in Robert about this type of meeting? Any opinions about the topic? Thanks.
jstackpo Posted December 7, 2013 at 09:55 PM Report Share Posted December 7, 2013 at 09:55 PM RONR has nothing to say about such meetings. Sounds to me that you are just doubling your work load. Is there a problem with discussing issues in a (semi-)public meeting ("semi-" in that Co-op owners are there in addition to Board members) ? If there are serious problems (discussion of legal matters, contract possibilities, &c.) just hold your Board meeting(s) in Executive Session with only invited non-Board-members there. jstackpo Posted December 7, 2013 at 10:11 PM Report Share Posted December 7, 2013 at 10:11 PM The only (additional) thing to worry about is the possibility that your Co-op Board may (ask a local lawyer) be required to operate under "Open Meeting" laws which might preclude "happy hour meetings" -- but I rather like the concept. Josh Martin Posted December 8, 2013 at 12:49 AM Report Share Posted December 8, 2013 at 12:49 AM Is there something in Robert about this type of meeting? No. Any opinions about the topic? I agree with Istvan, assuming there are no applicable rules or laws which would preclude it.
