Ballot approval by membership

A slate of nominees was presented to the full membership for approval. What vote is required to approve the ballot? A simple majority or a 2/3 majority?

It is not possible to vote in one or more election at once, as parliamentary principles state that only one matter may be pending at any one time.

 

Therefore, on the day of your meeting, the chair will, for each office in turn, name the nominee, and state that nominations from the floor are open. When there are no nominations, he will declare nominations closed, and either conduct the vote for that office or do nominations for the other offices, before doing all the ballots at once.

 

A majority is sufficient to elect to an office.

 

It is not proper to hold a single up/down ballot on the entire "slate".

In any event, you don't vote to "approve" a ballot (or a "slate"), you vote for individual candidates for individual offices.

Well, what I was trying to say was that you can't use a single motion to elect two or more people to separate offices at once.

 

You can of course hold a ballot vote for several offices at once.

You don't "approve a ballot", you vote for individual candidates.   And a majority vote is what is required.  The word "slate" is deprecated.
