George Mervosh Posted April 10, 2014 at 03:23 PM Report Share Posted April 10, 2014 at 03:23 PM Can an item discussed in a previous meeting be acted upon via a ballot vote in a subsequent meeting as long as a quorom has been established and the ballots are distributed in advance of the follow up meeting? Certainly. A majority vote or unanimous consent is needed to order a vote by ballot when the bylaws don't require it. You don't need to distribute the ballots in advance, by the way. Bruce Lages Posted April 10, 2014 at 03:28 PM Report Share Posted April 10, 2014 at 03:28 PM There's also no requirement in RONR that ballots be distributed in advance of the follow up meeting. It's perfectly acceptable to move to take a vote by ballot at the same meeting.
jstackpo Posted April 10, 2014 at 04:02 PM Report Share Posted April 10, 2014 at 04:02 PM However.... just to bring up a possibility that "church officer" might be contemplating.... Those ballots distributed "ahead of time" CANNOT be used by absentee voters unless your bylaws authorize such. You gotta be there to vote.

Everything else is fine.
