Guest Jmurph Posted April 19, 2014 at 05:01 PM Report Share Posted April 19, 2014 at 05:01 PM Can a existing board member run for a differnt position with out giving up his position? We have a special election for president and our Vice President. Put his name in the hat to run. Is he allowed to do so? Or does he have to give up his seat as Vice President first. Chris Harrison Posted April 19, 2014 at 05:08 PM Report Share Posted April 19, 2014 at 05:08 PM There is no requirement under RONR for an officer to resign his current office in order to run for another office. However, since this is the VP we are talking about he probably should resign as VP if he is elected President (though RONR doesn't require this) since one of the main jobs of VP is to take over as President in case of the President's absence and if the President is absent so will the VP (unless he has a clone).
