Guest Pam c Posted April 29, 2014 at 01:58 PM Report Share Posted April 29, 2014 at 01:58 PM We have president, vp, and secretary voted in for our next year's board. When voting on these positions we did not have a candidate for treasurer, we do now. Does this person have to go before a general meeting in order to be voted in or can the executive board appoint this person. There is only one person running for this position, we are a PTA. Thanks for your advice.
jstackpo Posted April 29, 2014 at 02:18 PM Report Share Posted April 29, 2014 at 02:18 PM It sounds like you had an "incomplete election" with respect to the treasurer. So he/she does indeed to be presented for election. If your bylaws do NOT require a ballot vote and you (continue to) have only one nominee, the chairman can, at a meeting, just declare the person as elected - no need for a round of voting - see p. 443. Transpower Posted April 30, 2014 at 12:24 PM Report Share Posted April 30, 2014 at 12:24 PM See RONR (11th ed.), p. 444, ll. 9-15: "...the election is completed at the next regular meeting."
