Guest Newell Slaughter Posted May 14, 2014 at 01:57 PM Report Share Posted May 14, 2014 at 01:57 PM At our council meeting last night our Planning & Zoning Board asked the Council to call for a public hearing for placing a church in a residential zone (R-3). The committee was on the agenda, but the call for the public hearing was not listed. The council voted to call for a public hearing for our next meeting. Was this wrong? Should the call for the public hearing been an agenda item? Thank you.

Should the call for the public hearing been an agenda item? It might have been better to have it there, but no harm was done. It's also not unusual to simply establish the committee, and allow the committee to call its own hearings.
