However a last minute change to the city council budget meeting to the exact time our meeting was scheduled has caused conflict. We really should be in attendance at this budget meeting. Can I postpone our meeting till next week? Under the rules in RONR, the regularly scheduled meeting would need to be called to order, and a motion to Fix The Time To Which To Adjourn could be made specifying the new date and time. The motion is amendable and can be adopted by majority vote. It can also be adopted even if a quorum is not present when the regularly scheduled meeting is called to order. Once adopted you can adjourn and go to the other meeting. Your council might have other rules for this matter and you should check to be sure, since they would take precedence over the rules in RONR.
