Guest president 04 Posted June 16, 2014 at 03:26 PM Report Share Posted June 16, 2014 at 03:26 PM Recently we held a monthly membership meeting. During the meeting a motion was made and voted on by the general membership. The president and some board members present didn't agree with the spending of money on a particular item and they votes against but it passed. My question is can the president veto that with the backing of the board?
Gary Novosielski Posted June 16, 2014 at 03:32 PM Report Share Posted June 16, 2014 at 03:32 PM No. The board cannot reverse decisions made by the membership. See Official Interpretations 2006-12 and 2006-13.
Chris Harrison Posted June 16, 2014 at 03:35 PM Report Share Posted June 16, 2014 at 03:35 PM And chances are very good that the Board itself cannot "veto" the Membership's decision. See here as to why they can't.
