How does one report minutes when a board member walks out?

In a resent board meeting, one of the members stood up during the discussion of a motion and walked out. The was no clearly heard reason given to those attending the meeting. While a quorum still remained and the meeting continued, the question is how (if) this should be recorded in the minutes?

I see no reason to record the random comings and goings of members (however dramatic they were intended to be) unless it would affect the presence of a quorum.

I agree, though it raises the question of reported voting. At the beginning of the meeting there were 7 members reported as present. During a procedural vote, the minutes reflect "6-Yes, Zero-No." This leaves open the question of whether the secretary made a mistake in the vote count, or who is the missing board member. The public should know who the missing voter is, shouldn't they?

 

Perhaps this is more of an Open Meetings Act question than a RONR question.

The minutes can include whatever the assembly wants included, even if it goes against RONR's advice.

 

But the 7th member could have remained and simply abstained from voting. Same vote result. 6-0. Same vote recorded (since you don't normally record abstentions but, again, you could if you wanted to).

The minutes would not normally reflect the vote count at all, unless a counted vote was explicitly ordered.  And even then, the identity of the abstaining voter is not indicated, and there is no reason why it should be.
