Guest Ellen Posted June 24, 2014 at 01:55 PM Report Share Posted June 24, 2014 at 01:55 PM What rules cover the removal of a member, even if elected, from a meeting, and perhaps from the committee entirely? This person continually makes motions that are out of order, and brings up items that are not relevant to the business at hand.
Gary Novosielski Posted June 24, 2014 at 03:31 PM Report Share Posted June 24, 2014 at 03:31 PM I'm not sure that merely making motions that are out of order would necessarily qualify as being disruptive. The chair would simply rule the motion out of order and move on. Is there more to this question than there appears to be? In any case, the committee itself does not have the authority to remove anyone from committee membership. That is up to the body that appointed (or in your case elected) the member. The committee could report a recommendation back to the parent body that the member be removed, but it's only a recommendation.
