tinaoliv Posted June 28, 2014 at 02:36 AM Report Share Posted June 28, 2014 at 02:36 AM When you leave a meeting and go into executive session, what are the rules that members adhere to for secrecy of topics discussed and what are the ramifications if secrecy is not adhered to? Chris Harrison Posted June 28, 2014 at 02:47 AM Report Share Posted June 28, 2014 at 02:47 AM RONR p. 96 says:A member can be punished under disciplinary procedure if he violates the secrecy of an executive session. Anyone else permitted to be present is honor-bound not to divulge anything that occurred. Generally speaking the range of possible disciplinary actions that can be taken goes from censure (a verbal slap on the wrist but carries no further punitive powers) to expulsion from the organization. Gary Novosielski Posted June 28, 2014 at 02:09 PM Report Share Posted June 28, 2014 at 02:09 PM Just to pick a nit, you don't "leave a meeting" to go into executive session. You are still in the same meeting. The rules are that things said and done in executive session are confidential. The penalties are entirely up to the society, and should presumably fit the crime.
