Voting Options

Our local organization has an issue to vote on and return to our regional organization.  However, our regular monthly meeting has come and gone and the next meeting will be after the date shown that we need to return the ballot.  Is our only option to call a special meeting to address this issue or is there any other acceptable way to poll the membership to obtain their input and vote and return the ballot within the allotted timeframe?  Thank you.

If the bylaws appoint the board to manage the society's business between meetings, and there is a board meeting in between times, that board meeting could decide how to vote too.

If the society even has a board--of which there was no evidence in the Q:, and if the bylaws grant it general power between meetings, and if the bylaws allow absentee voting, I would still doubt that the board could decide what method would be used for a general assembly vote on anything.

Question:  Our By Laws does not specifically state that vote will be accepted by proxy or that vote may be made by email.  Are either right?

Proxies and absentee voting (e.g. by e-mail) are both prohibited by RONR.

If you want to permit either you'll need to amend (change) your bylaws.

By the way, this forum works best if you post your new question as a new topic (even if you find an existing topic that's similar). If everyone who had a question about "voting options" added to this topic it would soon get out of control.
