Guest Margaret Taillon Posted August 5, 2014 at 08:26 PM Report Share Posted August 5, 2014 at 08:26 PM At an election meeting does the President have to give the number of votes each nominated person received, after he announced who won? Can't they just announce who won the election? One would think its emabarrassing to read the counts, but one member at our election meeting told the President that he had to read the counts (in robert's rules) so he did!! In past meetings we have never done this. Thank you for your help!

The tellers report is read by the tellers committee and re-read by the President, who declares the members elected, and the tellers report becomes a part of the minutes of the meeting. " Under no circumstances should this be omitted in an election or in a vote on a critical motion out of a mistaken deference to the feelings of unsuccessful candidates or members of the losing side." Guest Guest Posted August 5, 2014 at 08:34 PM Report Share Posted August 5, 2014 at 08:34 PM So are the counts read aloud by the teller committee person then?
Edgar Guest Posted August 5, 2014 at 08:35 PM Report Share Posted August 5, 2014 at 08:35 PM One would think it's embarrassing to read the counts . . . There should be no embarrassment in offering to serve in office, regardless of whether (or by how much) one "wins" or "loses".
