Guest Bruce Posted August 19, 2014 at 06:08 PM Report Share Posted August 19, 2014 at 06:08 PM If there is a tie, then the vote or motion fails. What does this mean?
Edgar Guest Posted August 19, 2014 at 06:11 PM Report Share Posted August 19, 2014 at 06:11 PM It means the motion was defeated. The same as if the vote was 10 in favor and 11 against. Or 2 in favor and 59 against. Note that a defeated motion can be made again ("renewed") by any member at any subsequent meeting as if it had never been made before. The one exception is in the case of an election. In that case additional rounds of voting are held until someone is elected (i.e. until the election is complete).
